This half term, we have immersed ourselves in different aspects of Roman life. We have learnt about the Roman invasion of Britain, life in the Roman Army, and the legacy the Romans left behind. The children wrote fantastic Roman myths, letters and information texts, and made authentic Roman shields and swords for our very own Roman Wow day, which culminated in a battle using traditional Roman techniques of marching and the turtle!
In Maths we have covered place value, rounding and addition and subtraction. We have especially enjoyed practising our times tables on Times Tables Tuesday.
Our Science learning has been based around the different states of matter – solids, liquids and gases. We have carried out lots of investigations, including finding the melting point of different substances and the children loved creating their own water cycle in a bag, where they could see how the water evaporated into vapour and then condensed back into water.
The children have loved learning ball skills (football) during outside PE and have been developing their balance skills during gymnastics lessons inside, which resulted in the performance of routines they put together in groups.
